Description: | Our data indicated that HPAEC underwent cellular senescence upon exposure to 10 Gy X-rays as determined by increased SA-β-gal activity, detected cytochemically as blue perinuclear staining at 4 days post-irradiation.X-ray-exposed HPAEC also exhibited changes in cell morphology, displaying unusually large cells and flattened cytoplasmic appearance compared to sham-irradiated controls. We also observed the upregulation of p21/waf1 within 3h post-irradiation, consistent with inhibition of the cell cycle in advance of senescence. |
