Aging Overview

External factors

External factors: Metformin
Aging type: Accelerate
Aging characteristic:
Category: Chemical compounds
Phenotype: Breast cancer
Experimental category: HL
Tissue type: --
Cell name: MDA-MB-468
PMID: 23395946
Experiment: Cell morphological analysis
Description: We determined that 1 mM metformin proved to be a threshold concentration at which impaired cell proliferation was evident at 72 hours, Heterochromatic nuclei were observed in metformin treated cells, indicative of senescence in cells previously exposed to 1 mM metformin. Morphologically, cells exposed to metformin are enlarged and flattened, consistent with induction of stress-induced senescence.
