Description: Incubation with N-acetylcysteine starting from populationdoubling 26 prevented the increase in ROS formation and the reduction of intact mitochondrial DNA. Furthermore, the reduction of nuclear TERT activity was blocked by N-acetylcysteine. Moreover, N-acetylcysteine prevented the reduction in overall TERT activity during further passaging and delayed the onset of replicative senescence.
