| Description: | To examine the effect of Rg3 on chondrocyte senescence, we measured SA-β-Gal activity 5 days after exposure of the cells to IL-1b, with or without Rg3, for 24 h.IL-1b stimulation resulted in a significant increase in the numbers of SA-β-Gal-positive cells in comparison with control cells treated with the vehicle alone. However, co-incubation with IL-1b and Rg3 significantly suppressed expression of the senescence marker.Rg3 at 1 and 2.5 lM significantly increased the telomerase activity of chondrocytes in comparison with IL-1b-treated cells. |
