Aging Overview

External factors

External factors: Hecogenin
Aging type: Accelerate
Aging characteristic:
Category: Chemical compounds
Phenotype: Lung cancer
Experimental category: L
Tissue type: --
Cell name: A549
PMID: 25115457
Experiment: Flow cytometry//SA-β-gal activity assay
Description: At 50 μM, there was a small decrease in cells at S phase and a small increase in cells at G0/G1 and G2/M . This effect was enhanced with increased concentrations of hecogenin acetate. At 75 μM, 74% of cells were induced to cell cycle arrest in G0/G1 while 84.3 % of cells were induced to G0/G1 cell cycle arrest by hecogenin acetate 100 μM;Control cells showed only few SA-β-Gal staining spots, in contrast to cells treated with hecogenin acetate 50 μM where clusters of senescent cells were evident.

Regulatory relationship

Target gene: ERK1/2//MMP2
R-EF-Target gene: --//--
Official symbol(s): ERK1/2//MMP2
Target gene experiment: Western blot
Target gene description: Hecogenin acetate completely abolished ERK 1/2 phosphorylation induced by H2O2.Hecogenin acetate was able to inhibit the increase in MMP-2 content caused by H2O2 treatment.
