Aging Overview

External factors

External factors: Rapamycin
Aging type: Prevent
Aging characteristic:
Category: Chemical compounds
Phenotype: Werner syndrome
Experimental category: L
Tissue type: --
Cell name: Fibroblast
PMID: 24308646
Experiment: Western blot//Immunochemical staining
Description: At the end of 42 days, growth rates reached 1.3 population doubling (PD) per week for WRN knockdown cells with rapamycin compared with 0.4 PD per week without rapamycin. Moreover, long-term rapamycin treatment restored normal nuclear morphology of WRN knockdown fibroblasts.

Regulatory relationship

Target gene: LC3-II//P62
R-EF-Target gene: Upregulation//Downregulation
Official symbol(s): MAP1LC3A//P62
Target gene experiment: Western blot
Target gene description: Rapamycin induced increases in LC3-II and decreases in p62, consistent with enhanced degradation of autophagosomes.
