Description: | Rapamycin was added to REF cells at passage 7 , and the cells were grown for 3 additional passages in rapamycin-containing media. Afterwards, rapamycin was removed, and during the subsequent passages the cells were becoming smaller in size, thereby reflecting a gradual restoration of the non-senescent phenotype as evidenced by Giemsa staining. The population lost such senescence markers as SA-β-Gal staining and restored the lost ability to proliferate as evidenced by an increase of S-phase cells. |
