Aging Overview

External factors

External factors: Lactoferrin
Aging type: Prevent
Aging characteristic:
Category: Chemical compounds
Phenotype: Aging
Experimental category: L
Tissue type: --
Cell name: hMSC
PMID: 28870012
Experiment: SA-β-gal activity assay
Description: SA-β-galactosidase staining revealed that lactoferrin suppressed the hydrogen peroxide-induced senescence of hMSCs.Lactoferrin suppressed the hydrogen peroxide-induced cell death of hMSCs in a dose-dependent manner.

Regulatory relationship

Regulatory pathway: Akt
R-EF-Pathway: Activation
Official symbol(s): AKT1
Pathway experiment: Western blot//Fluorescence microscopy
Pathway description: Our results showed that pretreatment with lactoferrin increased the hydrogen peroxide-induced phosphorylation of Akt compared with only hydrogen peroxide treatment. In addition, treatment of PI3K/Akt inhibitor, Wortmannin decreased the lactoferrin-induced inhibition of ROS generation or cell survival in hydrogen peroxide-treated hMSCs.
