| Description: | In fact, treatment with MMC or CDDP resulted in a statistically significant increase in the number of elements showing hallmarks of senescence (enlarged cytoplasm, polynucleation, senescence-associated β-galactosidase positivity, and negativity for BrdUrd incorporation) in BRCA1-defective cells compared with control cells.Accordingly to cytologic data, BRCA1-defective cells showed also a more pronounced induction of the cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p21 (CDKN1A) after challenging with MMC, supporting a cell cycle arrest. |
