Description: | Two non-overlapping shRNAs significantly reduced the expression of G6PD and decreased cell proliferation, which was rescued by overexpression of G6PD. Furthermore, G6PD knockdown significantly increased the number of cells positive for SA-β-GAL (β-galactosidase) staining.the expression of p21, one classic marker for senescence, was upregulated in G6PD knockdown cells and restored to normal level when mouse G6PD was overexpressed. Therefore, suppression of G6PD induced cellular senescence in HCC and HCT116 cells. |
