Gene name: | SIRT1 |
Aging type: | Prevent |
Aging characteristic: |
Tissue type: | Lung |
Cell name: | Clara |
Gene ID: | 23411 |
Category: | protein coding |
Phenotype: | Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease |
Experimental category: | L |
PMID: | 22546858 |
Experiment: | SA-β-gal activity assay//Western blot |
Description: | We found that the level of SIRT1 was decreased, whereas senescence-associated β-gal activ-ity and p21 expression were increased in lungs of COPD patients compared with nonsmokers.CS exposure significantly increased the levels of prosenescent proteins (i.e., p21, p16, and p53) and SA–β-gal activity in lungs of Sirt1+/– mice versus WT littermates, whereas these levels were lowered by Sirt1 overexpression. |
Target gene: | FOXO3//P21 |
Official symbol(s): | FOXO3//P21 |
R-AG-Target gene: | --//-- |
Subcategory: | Unclear |
Target gene experiment: | SA-β-gal activity assay//Western blot |
Target gene description: | Foxo3–/– mice exhibited heightened levels of p21, p16, p27, and SA–β-gal activity in lungs in response to CS exposure. However, there was no significant change in SA–β-gal activity in lungs of p21–/– mice in response to CS exposure, or along with sirtinol treatment. Moreover, FOXO3 acetylation was increased in Sirt1+/– mice, but lowered in Sirt1 Tg mice exposed to CS for 6 months. |
