Aging Overview

Aging gene

Gene name: SIRT1
Aging type: Prevent
Aging characteristic:
Tissue type: --
Cell name: HUVEC
Gene ID: 23411
Category: protein coding
Phenotype: Atherosclerosis
Experimental category: L
PMID: 25040736
Experiment: SA-β-gal activity assay//Knockdown
Description: We observed that the adenovirus-mediated SIRT1 knockdown directly induced senescence in young HUVECs. Conversely, SIRT1 overexpression significantly decreased SA-β-gal activity in senescent HUVECs, suggesting that SIRT1 protects against endothelial replicative senescence.

Regulatory relationship

Target gene: PAI-1
Official symbol(s): SERPINE1
R-AG-Target gene: Downregulation
Subcategory: Binding to promoter Acetylation
Target gene experiment: Western blot//qRT-PCR//Knockdown
Target gene description: PAI-1 expression was dramatically enhanced after SIRT1 knockdown at both the mRNA and protein levels in young HUVECs, while SIRT1 overexpression markedly inhibited PAI-1 expression at both the mRNA and protein levels in senescent HUVECs.
