Description: | At 80 weeks of age, CD9/CD81 DKO mice were smaller and had less hair of a brownish color than WT mice, although DKO and WT mice could not be distinguished at 3 wk of age.Moreover, DKO mice developed progressive kyphosis and decreased bone mineral density. Muscle and visceral adipose tissue were significantly reduced in volume, as determined by CT quantitation.Consequently, DKO mice had remarkably shorter survival than WT mice. Histological examination revealed that DKO mice developed emphysema and osteoporosis at 80 wk. Moreover, Although the CD4/CD8 ratio, one of markers in immunosenesence, was not altered in younger mice, it was reduced in aged DKO mice in comparison with WT mice.Double knock-down (DKD) of CD9/CD81 in epithelial cells resulted in cells with a large flattened morphology, and the proportion of SA-β-Gal-positive cells increased. |
