Aging Overview

Aging gene

Gene name: MEOX2
Aging type: Accelerate
Aging characteristic:
Tissue type: --
Cell name: IMR-90,WI-38,HEKn
Gene ID: 4223
Category: protein coding
Phenotype: Aging
Experimental category: L
PMID: 19340300
Experiment: FACS analysis//SA-β-gal activity assay
Description: MEOX2 -expressing cells exhibited reduced proliferative capability and progressive cell size increase,;Fibroblasts with forced MEOX2 expression also harbored significantly higher senescence-associated Beta-galactosidase activity,MEOX2 expression also led to an accumulation of cells in the G1 phase of the cell cycle, and a concomitant decrease of cells in S phase, consistent with cells undergoing senescence.

Regulatory relationship

Target gene: INK4A
Official symbol(s): INK4A
R-AG-Target gene: Upregulation
Subcategory: Binding to promoter
Target gene experiment: Western blot//IP
Target gene description: NK4a protein levels were increased two-fold by MEOX2 overexpression in fibroblasts .Immunoprecipitation of MEOX2-HA strongly enriched for sequences located within the INK4a promoter region.
