Aging Overview

Aging gene

Gene name: SIRT1
Aging type: Prevent
Aging characteristic:
Tissue type: Peripheral Blood
Cell name: BOEC
Gene ID: 23411
Category: protein coding
Phenotype: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Experimental category: L
PMID: 23897750
Experiment: SA-β-gal activity assay
Description: We next confirmed the protective role of SIRT1 against senescence in BOEC, as inhibition of SIRT1 increased SA-β-gal activity in SIRT1-deficient BOEC compared to control siRNA-treated cells, both in baseline and oxidant conditions. There was a significant negative correlation between both SIRT1 protein levels and activity and SA-β-gal staining in all samples.

Regulatory relationship

Target gene: P53
Official symbol(s): P53
R-AG-Target gene: --
Subcategory: Unclear
Target gene experiment: Western blot
Target gene description: Inhibition of SIRT1 expression in BOEC, which caused increased senescence, also resulted in increased acetylation of p53 at Lys-382, suggesting that the protective effect of SIRT1 against senescence in BOEC may be in part mediated by deacetylation of p53.
