Description: shDGCR8 IMR90 cells also showed a significant increase in the number of cells with senescent‐associated beta‐galactosidase (SA‐Beta Gal) activity as well as nuclei with SAHFs (senescence‐associated heterochromatin foci), regions of facultative heterochromatin characteristic of senescent cells.

Target gene description: Inactivation of DGCR8 in human and murine fibroblasts caused a modest, but reproducible increase in the protein levels of the cell‐cycle inhibitor p21CIP1. Also, a 3‐fold increase in p21CIP1 transcript and increased number of p21CIP1‐positive cells by immunofluorescence was observed in shDGCR8 human fibroblasts.
